Study Trial for reduction in recurrent UTIs in long term care patients using daily high concentration cranberry extract 36mg proanthocyanidin capsules.

The following are a few of the key highlights from the case study which showed very promising results to conduct a larger-scale study on the daily use of Utiva.

INTRODUCTION
o 10 of the most complex rUTI patients at a long term care centre in Nova Scotia (East Cumberland Lodge).
o Patients were given daily 1 capsule of Utiva (36mg PAC) for a 3 month period and culture-confirmed UTI rates were compared to previous 3 months.
o 3 patients were on prophylactic antibiotics and were stopped to take Utiva.
o 2 patients had ongoing use of indwelling catheters.

RESULTS
o 67% reduction in the number of patients who experienced a UTI while receiving Utiva (21 total UTIs prior vs 7 total UTIs using Utiva).
o 6 patients became UTI free.
o All patients have decided to continue taking Utiva daily.
