Pomona’s Universal Pectin is a low-methoxyl pectin from citrus. It is great for making jams and jellies that are low in sweetener. Pomona’s pectin is vegan and free from preservatives, GMOs, dextrose, sugar, and gluten. Also, there are no apple by-products or additives. It is made in Denmark by extracting pectin from dried citrus peels after the fruit has been juiced, and the oil has been removed from the peel. Pomona’s Pectin is activated by the presence of calcium, not sugar. If you’re not sure that calcium is present in your mixture each box contains a packet of calcium powder and directions for making calcium water.
Since Pomona’s needs no sugar to jell, your jams and jellies can be made with little to no sugar. So, possible sweeteners are agave nectar, stevia, xylitol, and honey. When you use Pomona’s you’re free to sweeten to your dietary requirements and taste!
Our Universal Pectin is shelf stable. Please store pectin in an airtight container. This will allow you to keep your pectin indefinitely.
Pomona’s Pectin is concentrated and economical – each 28g box makes two to four recipes or up to 22 half-pints (236ml) jars of jam.
